Anyway, forgot to say that here in Wales, nearly 98% of rites are done skyclad - nude and usually the High Priest's penis is erect throughout the rites, if you are working with Karnayna (Cernunnos) to symbolise His manifestation in the world of men, through the power of the erect penis. In my Coven, at the Winter Solstice rite, we hold a very compex rite, whereby the new light is lit from flint and the Solar year is reborn. Through the rite, the Solstice Candle-The Great Candle-the pillar of light-that houses the spirit of the new born Solar King- Cernunnos is lit within the body of all present. This is done by the Great Candle-( this is a large ceremonial candle, a bit like the Paschal Candles churches have for Easter Eve) being carried in procession to the High Priest's throne, where the High Priest sits skyclad, erect. He takes the Great Candle in his right hand and chants the (Lumen Karnayna chant) - Latin for "Light of Karnayna". The light of the Great Candle, that represents Cernunnos, flows through the High Priest, down to his erect penis-the physical manifestation in men, of the power of Karnayna. The men, then in turn, impale themselves on the High Priest's penis-whilst all the time, the High Priest still holds in his right hand, the Great Candle. In this rite, the men are filled with the Light of Cernunnos, through the High Priest's penis-that has chaneled the power of the Great Candle. It is a beauitful rite, held in the ritual circle, where also the Great Sigil is present that was created at Mabon. The High Priest throughout this, the most solemn and yet joyous of all Sabbat rites, is dressed in the Royal Robes; that is the real legs and feet of a Mutjac deer are strapped to his legs and feet, the shoulders of the High Priest covered with the skin of the Mutjac and finally, the Crown of Karnayna is placed on the High Priest's head-that is the real antlers of a Stag. Thanks for responding. I can only share my experience and speak for myself but I do suspect that many gay men feel the same way. When you factor in that 73% percent of Americans consider themselves Christian and the numbers were even higher about the time I was born (1977, it was 86%) Most of us have been raised with more conservative Christian values, even when our parents didn’t realize it. (Some people aren’t very “religious” but they keep the same values) Nudity in just about any form is considered taboo. The Attorney General spent 8000 dollars to cover the exposed nipples of a statue (Spirit of Justice) in the great hall that has been there since 1930. Even in the halls of the Supreme court paintings of “Lady Justice” and her male counterpart because images of the nipples and buttocks are considered “pornographic”. When you consider these things and teaching that homosexuality is not only a sin, but a “sin against humanity”, then consider what that does to homosexuals. We are slower to come out. We are also tend to take with us some of those values. There are still MANY gay men who are disgusted by polyamorous relationships. A lot of it has to do with this new acceptance of us by the more liberal mainstream. A lot of the mainstream accepts homosexuals as long as they are funny and dress really nice like that nice gay boy on “Will and Grace”. The TV show “Queer as Folk” was considered groundbreaking here, but it wasn’t so earth shattering in other countries. The problem comes in when the more “trendy” gays start conforming to fit in with the mainstream, because they want acceptance so bad. The want to accept us like they accepted black people. Be black, by all means, but please don’t be too black in public or around our kids.. lol Within the last 20 years people were still arrested for being gay. There is an entire generation of our community that remembers this and is still terrified to be themselves. Not the threat of prision, but the way people reacted to them. These factors make some of us less free spiritually and bound to earth. (Like Ostriches) Beautiful with a commanding presence but completely unable to soar into the sky.

I am glad to read your post. I started out really liking you and then went through a period where I wasnt sure what to think. I really enjoy you as a person but dislike hearing anti-US comments. I equally dispise nationalism, and the "We are the best "mentality that some people here have. I definately agree with you on a lot of things that youve just posted. Thought I would also just mention, I don't have anything against the USA, as most of you who know me, knows that my grandfather was American.. and in his memory we still keep each year, every fourth Thursday of Nov' Thanksgiving Day here in Wales; after all, Bristol, is only 30mins away from here, and it was from bristol that the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for a new life in the USA. Oz has a very different feel to it. Having read your views about America and Americans, I would be interested to hear what you think of my country, Australia which is another "New World" immigrant country and supposedly without history. I am very interested in your rites and would love to learn how to incorporate them into my rituals. I follow a pagan, non-celtic path and am a devotee of the Lady Isis and Lord Anpu. Whilst I celebrate the Wheel of the Year, my rituals have a very distinct Egyptian flavour. In regards to your comment about parchment, perhaps ou should see the parchment before you pass judgement; I think you will find parchment, hand made the traditional Welsh/Celtic style, is very beautiful and adds grace to any liturgical work and far nicer then normal paper/printing. Well teaching is what I do full time... you will find I am not out to make money. The fee's cover all the things you will need, which you aint gonna find in any amercian pagan shop.. most of the tools you will need to initiate yourself into the sacred mystery of Karnayna are unique to Wales. Quite agree.. I find american's cannot express themselves very well and come across quite arrogant. I find that american New Age is full of hatred, perhaps it is due to the fact they have no real connections to spirituality, as it's such a new country; whereas here in Wales, outside my back door there's a Bronze Age set of standing stones... Thank you for your comments. My credentials.. well I am a member of the Gorsedd, which is one of the highest awards given in Wales.. of which Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is also a member of.. I also hold a BA & MA in Theology from the University of Wales, and also a Dr in both the RSCM ( which would mean nout to Americans), but is eleite, here in Wales and the UK.
